Cornett's and the Kidwell's-Fall

Hey everyone!  I have a little time to pop in and share these photos I took of my sweet friend Jananna's family and her friends, the Kidwell's.  I was so nervous about handling two families with kids at one time but I can honestly say that this is one of the most fun shoots I've done.  I am really happy with the pictures I got but also learned ALOT!  So glad these sweet families trust little ole me to capture their memories!  Here is Catherine Grace, big THREE year old!  Where did the time go?

Note to self: If you are trying to achieve this cute blanket pose, don't use a square blanket. This family is still so cute no matter what.

I had never met the Kidwell's before and was very nervous to be taking Miss Trinity's first "real pictures."  Right after they arrived though, I could tell this family was so sweet and laid back and it really put me at ease.  Trinity was so great and barely fussed at all!  Even sitting in that pokey grass.  The Kidwell's were such sweet people and I hope I get to see this little one as she grows!

I'm not kidding when I tell you I caught myself smiling constantly while editing these pictures.  Hope you did too!

Have a great week!

daily dose of dog

Just thought I'd pop in to show you a picture of Kiwi I took today while practicing with my camera.  Because she is so cute....and I don't have any children to photograph.  Yesterday we trimmed her nails and today she had to pose, two things so is not quite fond of.  Look at the excitement on her face!

...and just because you can see her bottom teeth, here's a bonus pic.

This poor dog will be so glad when we have children so that I won't be sticking a lens in her face all the time.  Happy Friday!

Nursing School...the update

Over the past (almost) year and a half there have been many times I have sat down at my computer to write a nursing school update.   But every time I did the words just wouldn't come.  As you recall I shared on this blog how over the moon I was to get accepted to nursing school, and believe me I have tried so very hard to keep that enthusiasm.
This is what I wanted to do.
This is where I am meant to be.
But sometimes that's not very easy to remember.
You see, nursing school quickly became the hardest thing I have ever done and probably ever will do.
No one can prepare you for it.  Not even your sweet husband.
It's more than a different language, it's a different way to think in a different world.
And this semester, just as I thought I had reached the peak of my learning curve, I saw a new mountain on the horizon.
It's tough, y'all.  Like life-changing tough.
This semester exponentially more is being expected of me.  The content of our learning is exponentially greater in amount and difficulty.
But knowing the "why" always makes it a littler easier for me to envision my goal and therefore renew my spirit to push on.
Nurses are healers of the entire body, mind and soul...from head to heart to heels.  This often includes not only a patient but a family as well.  Nurses are teachers, counselors and friends.
As a nurse I'll have to know how, well, everything effects everything.  It's a little scary. To think that someone will trust their life with me is even more scary.
I know I couldn't do this without the hard work I'm putting in now.  It will be worth it one day.
I know it will.
One day all the tears I shed, the sleep I lost and the money I spent on printer ink will be a memory.
And I think overall it will be a good one.
Whenever I get down about how much I have to study and how much I'm missing out on I try to remind myself of that happy girl with an acceptance letter in her hand and a new purple stethoscope around her neck.
I'm living someone's dream of getting into nursing school.
I'm living my dream...and I'm not going to waste it.

...Just don't expect another update until I'm walking across the stage at my pinning ;)

Carlee and Bailee :)

Just wanted to stop by to share some pictures I took with my sweet neighbor, Jacky of her two precious princesses, Carlee and Bailee.  This was a spur of the moment photo shoot...those are always the best kind.  These two sure know how to work the camera!

I have so much fun with these girls and their parents.  I couldn't ask for better neighbors! Happy Monday!
